As salons, beauty retailers, and providers are being forced to shut down or limit their services during the pandemic, beauty aficionados are turning to tools, products, and services they can use at home.
Like many of you, I have kept up with the latest in skin, hair, nail and other beauty trends via the Internet, and my purchasing habits have followed suit as well. I recently ordered a gel nail kit and some nail stickers, and I was impressed with how easy it was to get my nails looking salon-grade.
My daughter, a fashion model based out of NYC, recently purchased a beauty fridge to keep her serums and natural skincare products fresh longer. Gimmicky or not, many of us are open to trying new things in the name of beauty.
Here are some of the best at-home beauty trends worth trying:
Skin
If you have acne, you may want to consider using blue or red-light therapy LED tools that work to correct and prevent future breakouts from happening. For smoother, more vibrant skin, consider micro-needling devices that stimulate collagen, plump skin, improve acne scars, and reduces pore size. To lift and firm your skin, use a radio frequency (RF) device specifically made for home use for your face and your body too. For quick fixes like depuffing your skin, especially around your eyes, a rose quartz facial roller feels great and works quickly if you refrigerate an hour prior to using.
Nails
Having Instagram-worthy nails is always uplifting, and it is now easier than ever to get salon style looks at home with nail wraps, stickers, stencils, and nail polish strips that cover your whole nail. How awesome is that! There are at-home gel nail kits with or without LED curing lights that keep varnish on for about a week for those of you less creatively inclined.
Hair
Social media users are obsessing with an Instagram hair colour filter known as @ksubones, which allows you to realistically change your hair colour to pink, blue, red, and even brown. If you want to take it a step further, you may want to try some temporary colour sprays and chalks that are easy to apply and washout with shampoo. If saving time is your thing, then opt for a hot air roller brush that dries and styles your hair at the same time – great for creating blowouts.
Men’s Beauty
Men’s grooming kit subscription boxes have been trending for a while, and there are more and more offerings for everything from shaving to manscaping. Companies like The Dollar Shave Club, Gillette, Harry’s, Birchbox Man, and Urban Beard, to name a few, offer tailored boxes with everyday essentials, such as shaving creams, razors, oils, brushes, and more.
