The Nordic Star Shining Over Hollywood North

1. How did you get started in acting, singing, and modeling?
As a child, I was mesmerized by musicals and convinced my parents to let me audition for one when I was 4.5 years old. The age limit was 6 but the producers let me audition anyway. I ended up getting the part and went on to perform in musicals every year after that for almost a decade. In 2003, when I was 10 years old my friend Joakim Harestad Haukaas and I submitted a song we made to a Norwegian singing and songwriting competition. After winning, we went on to represent Norway in the Jr. Eurovision Song Contest. When I was 12 years old I was taking pictures for my album cover, the studio owner ran a modeling agency and offered me representation.
2. Tell us about the lead roles you had in your two feature films last year.
In the spring of 2022, I shot “Finding Odera” directed by Charles Uwagbai. I had the pleasure of portraying the character “Aria McDonald”, an ambitious and determined documentarian. Finding Odera is a captivating love story that takes place in Lagos and Toronto, bringing the best of both worlds together. This is the first time I’ve worked with a Nigerian film crew and gotten to experience a piece of Nollywood. It was a lively set, with lots of laughs and groovy Nigerian tunes.
In the fall, I played “Margaret Classen”, a suburban mom haunted by her past, in the action-packed thriller “Cry of Silence”. The film was shot in St Mary´s Ontario and was directed by Allen Kool. Living in busy downtown Toronto, this was a nice change of scenery. St Mary’s is a charming and peaceful little town. This is also the first time I´ve had a fight scene in a film and I had the pleasure of working with Dwayne McLean who is a legendary stunt coordinator. Working with such a talented and close-knit cast and crew made for a rich and immersive experience.
3. What do you do to promote a healthy lifestyle?
Throughout my life, I´ve developed a holistic approach to health. Taking care of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually is a big priority. I love all things self-development and geek out on the subject. I truly believe that life is only as good as your mindset. I eat a wholesome, mainly organic diet, rich in vegetables, fruits, fish, nuts, and seeds, and stay away from sugar and processed foods. I love making healthy snacks and desserts, and never feel like I´m “missing out”, there are so many nutritious and delicious recipes out there. I love to start my day with a meditation and yoga practice, this centers me and sets me up for the day. I do more strenuous workouts about 3 times a week, and love cycling, running, and strength workouts. I also love going for walks in nature. Exercise is so essential and good for just about everything. Our bodies were made to move. I also take my sleep seriously and like to go to bed early and get up early. The way I think about it is that we only get one body, so we better take good care of it.
4. What are your success tips for others?
It’s important to know your why, if you have a strong enough why you will always find the how. More than anything, the one thing that will get you to where you want to be is consistent action. Do what you can with what you have and build from there. You also need to have a winning mindset, and by that, I mean being optimistic, but realistic, solution-oriented, and self-disciplined. And as cliché as it sounds, you have to believe in yourself, because unfortunately how our minds work is that we will never outperform what we believe we are capable of. I also think that an important aspect of success is getting your body right. Everything will be easier and a lot of things will solve themselves simply by you getting your body right.
5. When did you start your media agency and what kinds of projects have you worked on?
I am passionate about reaching my own goals and helping others reach theirs. This passion was the driving force behind establishing my media agency. It all started when a friend of mine asked me for advice on how to build her personal brand. I found the process of helping her so rewarding that I decided to put together a team of experts so that I could help more people on a larger scale. Today my agency Daysh Media and Consulting (DMC) helps individuals and businesses grow their brands through digital platforms and online marketing. We offer solutions for social media management, website development, and more. There are so many personal brands and businesses out there that deserve bigger audiences and find it hard to navigate the online landscape.
